"When people say, "You really, really must" do something, it means you don't really have to. No one ever says, "You really, really must deliver the baby during labor." When it's true, it doesn't need to be said."
- Tina Fey, Bossypants

Have you read it yet?!
If you need another reason to fork out $20 for that book, read the quotes found in the book here.
I promise you'll go running to the bookstore after that! ;)

Okay, my honest review for the book:
I reallyyyyy like it, she's so witty and comical and I wish I'm half as funny as her.
I love it when she talks about herself as a teenager, her family and her daughter
but I got kinda lost when she talks about her work
as I've watched neither 30 Rock or Saturday Night Live,
nor am I familiar with the USA politics.
But if you're looking for a light-hearted easy read,
this will be a good choice.

Okay, I got kinda distracted writing this entry because I actually found a website
where you can download ebooks for free!!!
They've Bossypants too.
Now, you can save on the $20 and read it for free here:

I also downloaded the entire Harry Potter series 'cause it's freeeeee.
I know I'm a decade late but I can finally find out what's the hype about HP.
After a decade when everyone's over it.
For free.

Anyhow, you can thank me later! ;)

I can smellllll the weekend already!
Let's hope this weekend will be as lovely as the last.

Hong Kong and San Francisco were all kinds of awesome - eating and shopping non-stop!!

 Mango sago drink!

  ...with my roasted goose rice!

Pork cutlet bun from Tsui Wah (翠華)
which is one of my favourite restaurant/cafe (茶餐厅) in HK!

The famous condensed milk bun from Tsui Wah!

Of course we can't do without dim sum in HK ;)

The food just kept coming it was crazy

Mango desserts from Xu Liu Shan (许留山) before some hardcore shopping!

The tiny glutinous rice balls are so chewy and to-die-for!!

After a few hours, we had bag within bag within bag...

I've got a couple of questions on where's good to shop and eat in HK...
Here are a few of my personal favorites :)

Fa Yuen Gai (花园街)
(Prince Edward station)
I would recommend going to this street for shopping first
'cause it's the cheapest so you won't feel upset or cheated for buying the same piece of clothing
at double the price somewhere else.

New Town Mall
(exit D2 at Mongkok station)
3 or 4 storeys (I can't remember) of endless shopping!
...only for girls though.
It's kinda like Platinum Mall/Far East Plaza.
I love this place!

Haha I know this is everywhere but I seldom visit Singapore's
and HK has the cheapest H&M due to their weak currency.
My favourite outlets got to be the one in Mongkok and Tsim Sha Tsui
which aren't as crowded as the one in Central, which always has no sizes.

Tsui Wah (翠華)
I was first introduced to this restaurant by Sau and I've always been on the lookout for it after.
My boyfriend, my colleagues, my friends, everybody I know,
LOVES this place!
Everything's nice but I usually order the condensed milk bun,
pork cutlet bun and fishball/fishcake noodles.
Just go there ok???

Yung Kee
(Central 中環)
Famous for their roasted goose!
The last time I went,
H and I had a feast of all their roasted meat!
Yummy but albeit oily.

Xu Liu Shan (许留山)
This dessert place needs no introduction, it's on every other street in HK.
Everybody knows it and everybody loves it :)

That's all I managed to pack into my two-day stay in HK!
Too short a stay to travel out of Kowloon and
I cannot remember all the other nice places I went to on my previous trips.
Probably next time when I travel to HK for a holiday? ;)

Look, my new book!
I collected it from the concierge right after check-in and I was soooo excited
I started downloading books despite being extremely tired.
It's lighter than a book and I think I made the right choice getting the Kindle Touch :)

 Skincare I got from Sephora.
Will do a review when I've got the time!

Omgggggg the besttttttt clam chowder from Boudin!
I don't have to travel all the way to Fisherman's Wharf just for a bowl of this anymore!
I accidentally chanced upon a Boudin Bakery right in the city of San Francisco, next to Macy's.

I've updated SHOPTIPPYTAPP if you're interested ;)

Back soon!

After hearing my complaints about getting aches from nights of sleep on my pillows the week before, H got me a new pillow, from the hotel range no less, to welcome me home after being away for eight days.

Simply timely and perfect since I've been clocking minimum sleep the entire week.

I am so lucky to have him.

Ah, Rome.
Jasmine and I got cheated the moment we got off the train.

We took a cab from the train station to this bus stop for our hotel transport (it is very expensive to take a cab direct to the hotel). It was less than 10euro for approx 5-10min journey. But that night, the taxi cost us >20euro, and the journey time was the same. The cheater (driver) charged us for the luggages we had with us (each piece at 2euro or so) ON TOP of the meter fare. The first driver did not, neither have we heard of such a thing but we were really too tired to argue because we KNEW he was out to cheat tourists. I mean, come on, I was a euro or two short of what he was charging and neither he or I had change for 50euro, he said "Okay, just give me whatever you have", it was obvious he was out to cheat. I have no idea what he did to the meter, we didn't notice how fast it jumped or how much did the meter start at. It was just a very bad experience overall. Just our luck.

Rome was really different, every turn was a surprise. It was a mix of old and new, lots of sand, lots of dust, lots of tourists.

The Colosseum

The Colosseum needs no introduction.
It is probably one of the most recognised attraction in Italy.

Vatican City

Haha erm, Jasmine and I took a bus to Vatican City after the Colosseum and we missed our stop (I was sleeping). Rome was reallyyyyy hot with the sun blasting at us the entire afternoon when we were all wrapped up. It was torturous to say the least, and that's why I didn't take much pictures at the Vatican City. I wasn't in the mood and I think you've to be there to see for yourself just how grand the church, St Peter's Basilica is! I've been to so much churches around the world, I've to say this is one of the grandest I've seen, as is the Sagrada Familia church is Barcelona.

 My postcard to H

 Cute outfit ;)

Along the way...
The only bridge with statues - Ponte Sant'Angelo

Piazza Navona

One of the most famous squares in Rome, full of restaurants and artists.
We actually walked all the way from Vatican City.
In fact, we walked everywhere in Rome with our map, it was crazy.

Haha the usuals for me!

Trevi Fountain

It was so grand, so beautiful!

We were just standing there, admiring, people-watching and we realised a lot of people were tossing coins into the water with their back facing the fountain. Apparently it was to wish for a return trip back to Rome. So Jasmine and I did the same!

Apparently, we're supposed to toss the coin over our LEFT shoulder according to this website.
I guess we won't get to go back to Rome any time soon after all. hahahahha!

Spanish Steps

The widest staircase in Europe.
And this was our last stop of the day...which means we covered ALL the attractions in Rome in ONE DAY.

 View from the steps

Resting our feet and watching the sunset

For authentic Italian food, go to Maccheroni!

We decided to try having First course and Second course like the Italians... and we were soooo stuffed! One course is definitely enough. I wonder how the Italians do it, plus desserts!

First course: Vegetable soup
Not that good.. I thought it would be clear soup with vegetables in it

 First course: Pasta with truffle
Looks like worms haha but pretty nice!

Second course: Pork ribs in tomato soup
Yummmmm I liked it!

 Second course: Beef capriccio

Via dei Giubbonari, 21  00186 Rome, Italy066 875287

This restaurant's menu has a lot of fish in it so I guess that's what they're famous for!

Pasta with eggplant and swordfish (I think)

 Pasta with tuna
Looking at the picture, I reallyyyyyy want to have this right now.

And I'll end this post with some random pictures that doesn't fit anywhere...
Pebbled ground

 My current wallpaper :)

The famous spiral staircase in the Vatican Museum

Wow, this post took me a really long time!
I'm off to get some lunch, return my purchase from F21 and get some rest before my flight back to Hong Kong later.

Till the next! ;)
